Hay, Hay!

We had two work days of baling small square bales.  The end of August and the first of September found us on the rack, lifting and stacking bales.
Our crew!

It wouldn't be square baling without a few baler issues.

Eliza and I waiting on the baler repairs.

Everyone was helping but there's always a few tears when it comes to "where can I stand?" or "I want to do that bale" or "I need a drink."  But, we get it all worked out.

On top of the rack, almost ready to be done.

Exhausted x 3.

A week or two later, we did another 150 bales.  This time it was a little warmer, nearly 90 degrees in September.

The bales were already baled and dropped on the ground.
Ephraim drove the tractor to the bales.
Grandpa Arlin and I picked them up and put them on the rack.
Emmet, Eden & Eliza were stacking them on the rack.

We work out  . . .side.

That's our work crew!  Our cows will enjoy the square bales this winter and spring.

Zoo Trip!

We haven't been to the zoo in years and the kids were actually asking to go sometime.  We were given some free tickets AND our homeschool group was going in September--which worked out perfectly for us!  Everyone had a great time and we practically had the zoo to ourselves, so the kiddos could run ahead and have free reign!  We had a great attendance from our group so it was fun to walk around and see all these people you know and can chat with.

Eden loves anything pink--so a picture with the flamingos was an obvious choice!

Eliza just didn't want to be left out :)

The otters were fun to watch.

Having fun in a tortoise shell!

Check out that prairie dog exhibit!

Most interesting.

The zoo has added several new exhibits since we've been there last and this underwater viewing area is one of them.  There were three level to view the seals and the children had fun checking them all out.

Petting a baby alligator!

Eliza liked that odd-looking bird in the grasses.

This Africa part of the zoo was all new for us as well.  I had to take a picture of the ostriches since I used to work on an ostrich farm.

Of course, the children loved the long horns on these bovine.

Fun with friends!

Maybe we should get some pigs like these?

Or cows like this?

Feeding the goats some leaves--you know, the free food ;)

Good times!  She can be so dramatic sometimes!

It was a great trip to the zoo and the weather was good for October 9.  We enjoyed a picnic lunch in the van and saw a couple more things at the zoo before heading home.
