Roller Skating

Our homeschool group hosted a roller skating party and there was record-breaking attendance for this field trip!  With a little trepidation, we signed up and conquered some fears of skating and falling.  While we couldn't go fast, we at least held our own out there and left with only a few bruises.

Our pre-skating photo.

She's smiling in this photo.  By the end of the 2 hours she was making the rounds on her own.  It was the complete opposite the first hour--near hysteria about falling and not being able to balance.  Thankfully, the other three managed to be on their own so I could work with Eliza.

It's safe to say we made some memories this day and had some tired legs by the end of the afternoon.

Cadet/GEMS Sunday

The first Sunday of April found us participating in GEMS Sunday and Cadets Sunday.  The girls helped to greet at 1st service.

Ephraim was an usher for 2nd service.

All the GEMS girls sang for 2nd and 3rd service.

Here are my kids with a neighborhood boy whom we have been bringing to church with us.  He has attended Cadets with the boys and now church as well.

A small Easter garden craft from Sunday School.

It is always good do see the GEMS and Cadet program showcased in church and to see how the children enjoy being a part of it.

GEMS

The girls have enjoyed their time in GEMS (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) at church.  To finish out the year, they had two more events.  First, the annual baked potato supper.  The girls worked hard at picking up dirty dishes!
At the potato supper, before the big rush!

A couple weeks later was the Mother/Daughter event.  We enjoyed a light supper with a guest speaker from our church.  It was an encouraging event despite the speaker having lost her husband in a tragic accident a couple months prior.

The girls got a frame with the badges they had earned for the year.

"Mom, seriously, no more pictures."  That seems to be what Eden is saying.

Gymnastics

The girls enjoyed a couple months of gymnastics this fall, took a break during the winter and then went back for another month or two in Feb/March.  It was a huge class of 20-30 homeschool girls their age.  Here are a few snapshots of their fun.

Balancing on the balance beam.

Doing flips!

And somersaults.

No problems on the high rise bar!

They thoroughly enjoyed their time in the class, but with the warmer weather and livestock commitments at home, it was time to be done.  They may do it again, but they enjoyed their time with friends and learning new skills.  It was a fun experience for sure.
