Later in the fall, we build a fence through the corn field so that the cows are free to roam the fields and forage on the stocks. In the past couple years, we've done this the weekend of Thanksgiving. Now, we're glad that we were a month ahead of schedule, doing this in October, instead of November because it has been a wet November.
Here we are, working together, carrying posts, pounding posts and connecting the fence.
The main post pounder--this used to be my job.
The post carrier with Emmet driving the posts around and Eliza was in charge of insulators.
Girl power!
Eliza does a pretty good job driving.
Working out . . . .side.
Connecting the two insulator pieces so I can put them on a post and attach the wire.
Time to grind a little corn.
A week later, it was time to turn the cows out onto the stocks.
Flare just wouldn't budge.
"Who is that pushing me?"
Now it takes two to push.
Finally, making a little progress.
The cows are in the stocks and all is well.
"I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine."
