Cousin Camp

Without boring you with details, Grandma Twyla & Grandpa Harold had all 6 cousins on Thursday and then they spent the night just for fun and memories.   I spent the day at home working on farm bookwork, see I told it was a boring detail.
On Friday, it was my day to watch the silly six.
In an effort to have a mini-field trip, I took them to Cordova Tower at Lake Red Rock.  But, in order to go, they had to take "The Pledge."

Raise your right hand and repeat after me . . .
"I promise to climb all 170 stairs.
I will not gripe, complain, fuss or giggle.
I will not run.  I will not push.
It WILL be fun."

After taking the pledge, taken part seriously and partly in jest, we were on our way!

Yahoo!  Look who made it to the top . . . without griping, complaining and fussing.  Yes, there were a few giggles, but that's okay.

Eliza, Emmet, Ephraim, Garret, Alyssa, Eden

"Maybe you don't want to look down, Emmet."

Ephraim, making sure that Eliza sees what everyone else was looking at.

The exit gate provided its own 10 minutes of entertainment.  And since the entrance gate was padlocked open and we didn't have to pay, we could enter and exit as many times as we wanted.  In fact, while we were there one gal ran the stairs at least 5 times!

Did you know that the staircase is the longest staircase of its type in the world?

We made it to the top one time and came back down.  The sun was coming out of the haze and it was getting WARM!  Like 95 degrees warm.

While in the area, we stopped by the dam to see the dead fish, er, I mean the water and rocks.  One gentleman caught a gar while we were right by him so the kids were thrilled with that.

Striking up a pose with the dam in the background.

One of the main attractions at Grandpa & Grandma's house is the hot tub  On Thursday, the kids had used the slip and slide and had some dish soap on the slide.  But then they went in the hot tub.  Dish soap on swimsuits + the jets on hot tub = BUBBLES!  Lots of BUBBLES!
I think it is safe to say that it was a fun two days of Cousin Camp for the children.  Many memories.
