Macaw! Macaw!

Ephraim's geography lesson included a macaw craft. It looked like too much fun for just one boy! At times like this, I'm thankful that my computer printer is also a simple copy machine. We made four copies (to start with) and set to work on making our macaws colorful.

The kids had fun coloring them and then cutting them out. Then it was time to assemble them. We also added feathers (construction paper) and added pipe cleaners for legs and feet. In some cases, we added another pipe cleaner hoizontal to the feet as a tree limb. We used a brad to attach the head to the body so it is moveable. If you look closely at Ephraim's macaw, there is a yellow piece on top of his head. That's a crown! And what Ephraim does, so must the others do.

Now, what to do with our macaws?

Hang them from their ceiling, of course. Feel like you're in a rain forest?

We used yarn and sticky tack to hang them from the ceiling.

Macaws cannot be left alone overnight . . . .

Oh, dear, we have a macaw epidemic. There's twelve of them now!

Mom, mama, mommy, mommy, can we make another one? :)
