The children were really excited to put up the Christmas tree. So, by 8:30am on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, we were making preparations.
First, one must prepare a spot by cleansing it of toys and vacuuming.
We brought the tree up from the basement and unloaded the box. In three quick steps we had it assembled. Then it was time for the fluffing of the branches.
And then the yearly untangling of Christmas lights! Don't forget to plug them in to make sure they work before putting them on the tree.
Then the children's favorite part: hanging the ornaments. They love looking at each one. Asking about its story, if it has one. They even enjoy playing with a few of the play-able ones.
Finding the perfect spot for an ornament. Even if our tree is ornament heavy in the middle, it is still special because the children did it and I'm not going to rearrange them for the sake of being OCD about ornament placement.
The reason for the season.
Christmas decorating isn't complete without getting out the ceramic Christmas tree from Grandma Boat. It has a nice place in the kitchen bay window.
We also have two main nativity sets out year-round. This one that the children can play with.
Luke 2:10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.
