Happy Independence Day!

It was a hot day for a parade on Saturday, July 3rd. I ventured out with the kids to the parade. And it was a LONG one, too. A parade for one and a half hours . . . on the cement . . . in the heat. And we had our seats a half hour prior to the start of the parade. First, we found a great parking spot, but the boys needed to use the bathroom as soon as we arrived. We searched for a port-a-potty but found none. Then tried to use a restaurant restroom but the line was LONG. So, we went a block away to a gas station. This was no easy feat with four kids in tow, in the HEAT.

We came away with a good amount of candy, 4 sand pails with shovels, some freezee pops and a football.

Are those my kids out in the street? Yes, I told them many times to step back!

At the conclusion of the parade, the fire trucks came through, spraying water. The adults scattered pretty quick the the young ones loved it.
We had a great time together, even if it was a LONG and HOT parade. We went to Hy-Vee to get more freezee pops (since we came away from the parade with an odd number) but they were out!
