Great Aunt Nellie

My dear Great Aunt Nellie went to be with the Lord last week. She was my maternal Grandmother's sister and was always very special to us. She lived in Phoenix so we didn't get to see her a lot, but I know that her and Grandma always kept in touch.
We were pleased when Aunt Nellie was able to travel to Iowa in 2006 for my grandma's funeral.
One of my fondest memories of Aunt Nellie was in 1998. I spent my college spring break flying with my grandma to Phoenix so she could see her sister. It really was a good time.

They played a lot of Rummikub, picked oranges, had a picnic at a park and just visited. I do remember that having a conversation with three older people--all wearing hearing aids--got a bit challenging, but we enjoyed great conversation.

While we were there we attended the wedding of one of Nellie's granddaughters.

This is Great Uncle Bill, Great Aunt Nellie, me and Grandma Evelyn.

I also remember that Grandma and I flew back into Iowa in a blizzard! The only person able to get us from the airport was Uncle Marv and we had to spend the night at his house. I was more than ready to get home, but had to wait one more night.

Great Aunt Nellie will be sorely missed by her Iowa family and her Arizona family. She's having Christmas with Jesus this year.
